Firstly, we wanted to say once again – thank you.In April, we wrote to you and announced that CogX 2020 would be going ahead as an 18 stage, fully virtual festival. We believed it was vital to press on and play our part in helping address the COVID-19 pandemic and support the recovery. We gathered our community together and enabled global leaders, technology experts, and the public to connect at scale, 100% online.
It was an ambitious vision. It took two months of round-the-clock work from our extraordinary team, the generosity and flexibility of our speakers, and the backing of our incredible sponsors.
But ultimately, we could not have succeeded without YOU – our community who have been with us all the way. And so, a massive thank you to all 44,000 of you – together we made history as the biggest virtual event of its kind to date. So, what’s next? Introducing CogXtras. More than a month on, the feedback we continue to receive exceeds our wildest expectations. So many of you want to continue to share, learn, and progress conversations about the biggest transformational opportunities and challenges of our time. So today we are announcing our CogXtras. A year-round programme of over 30 half-day single-topic virtual events every Wednesday – beginning 2nd September. Running from 8 a.m to 2 p.m, CogXtras will have: 3 hours of Editorial sessions, 3 hours of Networking and Side Events, and an expanded Virtual Expo to explore. We will cover all 18 stage topics from CogX in rotation throughout the year (see the Editorial Calendar here). CogXtra September Editorial Calendar: (subject to final changes) 2nd September – Leadership + Economy & Future of Work Topic: Recovery & Resilience 9th September – Ethics & Society Topic: The Tech We Want – An Ethical Approach to Innovation 16th September – The Planet Topic: The Road to UN Climate Week 23rd September – Industry 4.0 & Sustainable Supply Chains Topic: Sustainable Business – How Industry is addressing the Climate Crisis 30th September – Health & Wellbeing Topic: What now for The National Health and Social Care System? The New Mission Where our mission in our first year was to bring clarity to the complex world of AI and to democratise access to expert knowledge, today that mission has evolved. With the addition of our year-round programme of CogXtras and our Global Leadership Network, we believe we have an opportunity to bring clarity to the complex world – well beyond just the impact of AI. Our ambition is to be the most inclusive and forward-thinking community of leaders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, scientists, policy makers, artists, and activists in the world. And to enable them to share, learn, and connect with each other seamlessly online. We are already close to 50,000 strong, and with over 15 CogXtras planned between now and the end of December, we expect this to scale past 500,000 and beyond, providing our members, exhibitors, and partners with access to TV scale audiences throughout the year. We believe the Festival, and the CogXtras, all on the CogX Live Network can play a valuable role by providing a new place to connect that enables you to do business, whilst also creating a positive impact on society to drive the economic growth that we need.
