About Dr. Zhenzhi
Zhenzhi joined the National AI Office (NAIO) under the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office on 1 January 2020. NAIO sets the national agenda for AI in Singapore, and catalyses efforts across research, industry, and government stakeholders to apply AI to address national priorities. NAIO is responsible for identifying and implementing AI use-cases, as well as strengthening ecosystem enablers (such as talent, data, governance, industry and international partnerships) to facilitate the deployment of AI.
Before joining NAIO, Zhenzhi was the Director of Planning and Policy at Singapore’s Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR), where she led policy formulation, corporate planning, and international relations. Prior to this, she spent several years as a post-doctoral fellow at A*STAR’s Institute of Medical Biology.
Zhenzhi graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (USA) with a degree in Bioengineering and then went on to complete her Ph.D. at Cambridge University (UK) in Stem Cell Medicine.
