About Iair (""ya-eer"")

Iair Arcavi studies the most energetic events in the Universe: exploding stars, stars torn apart by supermassive black holes, and neutron stars crashing together. Events such as these create elements crucial for life, influence galaxy and star formation, and reveal the physics of matter and radiation at extreme densities and temperatures. As such, they can help uncover the fundamental laws of nature. Arcavi is particularly interested in events that produce gravitational waves and new methods for capturing the light from distant stars.
