Katharina Sophia Volz is the CEO of OccamzRazor, a San Francisco-based startup she founded in 2016 to find treatments for Parkinson’s disease using machine learning.
She studied biosciences at Harvard University. In 2015, she become the first researcher to receive a PhD in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine from Stanford University, completing her degree in a record time of two and a half years. During her PhD, she discovered the type of stem cells that can grow into coronary arteries, a breakthrough that can lead to new treatments for heart disease. In 2017, she made the Forbes 30 under 30 list in the science category.
