Award-winning director Kibwe Tavares combines his training as an architect with his love of storytelling and animation to create futuristic 3D animated and live action films with social and political depth. His detailed, vivid, and kinetic visual environments have enticed audiences in the commercial and entertainment space alike. Kibwe’s colourful career started with a bang as his masters degree thesis ‘Robots of Brixton’ picked up the Special Jury Award at Sundance Film Festival. Since then he’s established himself as a distinctive directorial voice collaborating with household names such as UEFA, Guinness, Film4, the BFI and DMC, with his films receiving praise from the likes of Variety, Deadline and Campaign. Additionally, Fast Company named Kibwe one of the ‘100 most creative people in business’ with TED also welcoming him as a fellow and mentor. Most recently, Kibwe directed ‘Aisha and Abhaya’, a mesmerizing, mixed media ballet production, debuted at the Royal Opera House and presided as EP over the acclaimed BBC adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s seminal novel, ‘Noughts + Crosses’.
