Actor and Writer
Lolita Chakarbarti is an award-winning playwright and actress. Writing credits include the award-winning Life of Pi, which will open in the West End in 2020, the ambitious Invisible Cities (MIF and Brisbane) and Red Velvet, which opened in London’s West End and New York. She worked as dramaturgist on the recent Message in a Bottle and in 2018 curated and wrote a monologue for The Greatest Wealth at the Old Vic in London, a salute to the NHS on it’s 70thbirthday. Acting credits include playing Queen Gertrude, opposite Tom Hiddleston, in Sir Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet (RADA), Fanny & Alexandra (Old Vic) and Free Outgoing (Royal Court). TV credits include A Casual Vacancy (BBC1/HBO), To Provide All People (BBC2), Beowulf (ITV), Jekyll and Hyde (ITV), Riviera (Sky), Criminal (Netflix) and Defending The Guilty (BBC). Forthcoming projects include the BBC series Vigil and she wrote and will star in Calmer at the Birmingham Rep in the Autumn.
