About Marica

Marica Branchesi is an astronomer working on the (astro)physics governing emission, formation and evolution of black holes and neutron stars. Her research activity is aimed at developing the multi-messenger astronomy, which uses electromagnetic and gravitational-wave observations to probe the physics of the most energetic transient phenomena in the Universe. Marica was included by Nature in the annual list of ten people who mattered in science in 2017, which indicates her as “merger maker – An astronomer helped scientists make the most of a historic gravitational-wave event.”
