During the first surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Hind led respiratory weaning at Royal Brompton, the largest referral centre for patients with SARS Co-V2 lung failure in the UK, many of whom required specialist ECMO support. He will discuss how innovative approaches allowed safe and effective ICU expansion for the very sickest patients ensuring NHS critical care capacity was not overwhelmed.
