About Roy

Roy Bahat is the head of Bloomberg Beta, an early-stage venture firm that invests in startups making work better — what they’ve done since he started the firm almost a decade ago. Roy has started venture-backed companies, been a corporate executive (at News Corporation), in government (at New York’s City Hall), media, and academia (at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business). He is one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business.

He is a commissioner on the California Governor’s Future of Work Commission (following work he did with think-tank New America to understand the 10-20 year future of work and automation in America), and is on the board or an advisor to several non-profits including Stanford’s Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society, the Center for Investigative Reporting, and the Economic Security Project.

He graduated from Harvard College and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University.
