The Student View
The Student View was founded by Solomon Elliott, when he was 23, in September 2016, after teaching English at a secondary school in south London. Deeply concerned by the rise of misinformation and the lack of young voices being heard from underserved communities, Solomon decided the best way to make a change was to train teenagers as local news reporters. Today, The Student View runs a network of school newsrooms across 20 UK towns and cities. The charity works with partners including Google, the Financial Times and ITN. The Student View was named the world’s best media literacy programme in 2019 by the Global Youth and News Media Prize. Solomon is an external member of the BBC’s Diversity & Inclusion Group.
