Stefan joined the CMA in 2018 to set up the Data, Technology and Analytics function. He leads data scientists and engineers, behavioural scientists and digital forensic investigators working on technology markets, digital competition and complex datasets.
He is an Honorary Professor in economics at Nottingham, has a PhD in economics from Harvard and has a bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology from Cambridge.
Stefan’s work has been influential domestically and globally. He co-chaired the UK Competition Network project on the impact of consumer remedies and was vice-chair of the G20-OECD taskforce on financial consumer protection.
