Tom Standage is deputy editor of The Economist, where he writes about technology and also edits its future-gazing annuals, “The World if” and “The World in”. He is also the author of six history books, including “The Victorian Internet”, “The Mechanical Turk” and the New York Times bestsellers “A History of the World in 6 Glasses” and “An Edible History of Humanity”. He is now writing a book on what the horseless carriage can teach us about the driverless car. He lives in London.
