Dr. Kate Knill is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Engineering and the Automatic Language Teaching and Assessment
Institute, Cambridge University. She has 25 years experience in spoken language processing in industry and academia. Kate has led (at Nuance Communications and Toshiba Research Europe Ltd) and contributed to the development of automatic speech recognition and text-to-speech synthesis systems for over 50 languages and dialects. Her current research focus is in the education – computer aided assessment and learning for non-native learners of English – and medical fields – screening for speech and language disorders.
